Guardian

A guardian is a court appointed person to act to make decisions for a child.

Guardian of an Adult

A guardian of an adult is a court appointed position for an adult that is incompetent or incapacitated. Usually a court hearing is required for the court to appoint a guardian. If you have any questions, please call us.

Conservator

In Virginia, a conservator is required to handle the estate and money of an incapacitated adult. This position is also appointed by a Court. An adult can have both a Guardian and Conservator if need. If you have questions, give Day Law Group a Call

What is a Guardian ad Litem?

A guardian ad litem is an attorney appointed by the Court who functions to protect the rights of a child or an incapacitated adult during Court proceedings. You may see the Court use a guardian ad litem in custody and support hearings, appointment of a Guardian or any other time a person is unable to speak for themselves.
